Tendering new systems & services

Buying IT is where a lot of money quietly disappears. I help you specify what you need, take it to market, and compare what comes back honestly.

Suppliers are good at making proposals hard to compare. Different bundles, different exclusions, different contract lengths, and a headline figure that moves once you read the detail.

I have run this process for phone systems, software and infrastructure, and replaced vendors where the numbers justified it, including scoping and delivering a CRM sales module that removed a £56,000 annual Salesforce cost.

I am not reselling anything, so I have no stake in which supplier wins.

What this covers

  • Working out what you actually need, as distinct from what is being pitched
  • Writing the requirement up clearly enough to get comparable quotes
  • Running the process and managing supplier questions
  • Like-for-like comparison of what comes back, including the exclusions
  • Reading contracts for the terms that bite later
  • A recommendation you can take to your board and defend
  • Support through implementation once a supplier is chosen

When this is the right fit

You are replacing a major system, renewing a contract you suspect is poor value, or holding quotes you cannot sensibly compare.

What it costs

£450 per day — typically two to five days.

That is a guide range, not a quote. You get a fixed price after a free 30-minute scoping call, and it does not move afterwards. I am not VAT registered, so there is no 20% to add on top. Full guide prices for every service are published openly.

How it works

A free 30-minute conversation first, so I understand the situation and you can judge whether I am the right person. Then a clear scope and a fixed quote or an hourly rate, agreed before anything starts. Work delivered, documented, and handed over.

Response times: within 2 hours during working hours, and never more than 24 hours.
